The ruler of the sprites meets a proud, but wayward harpy. Will their love survive a little trickery?

Blurb

At eighteen, Warrior Chieftain Kitlivri Cyrrien of the Sprite Grove gained his title. On a dark night, Kitlivri lost his parents, sister, and nearly his entire population thanks to a horrid wizard potion. The Draconises took in him and his brothers, and Kitlivri gradually healed. Now he is a talented businessman, and the sprites have expanded by three dozen. Honored to be the Warrior Chieftain, Kitlivri does not want to give up his important role in Draconis Enterprises, but he believes it’s a necessity.

Jace Pagonis is a proud harpy, but he chafes at his people’s antiquated rules. When Jace isn’t arguing with his mother—the leader of the harpies—he’s sneaking around to improve his archery skills. Weapons and tricks are forbidden to harpy men but are necessary for the women, who are responsible for the men’s survival. Desperate to convince his mother to join the Council, Jace creeps out of his village one night to explore.

Two weeks into his fact-finding mission, Jace meets Kitlivri and is stunned to discover that Fate has selected them as mates. Jace misses home, but he cannot leave Kitlivri, nor does he want to explain to the courageous sprite that he’s the bratty son of the harpy ruler. Jace throws himself into life as Kitlivri’s other half and co-leader of the sprites, but weaves tales to avoid the truth. However, secrets never stay hidden for long, and Jace must face his lies or risk losing Kitlivri forever.

Excerpt

Jace scratched his head and tried to make sense of their conversation. “You want to bind our souls for eternity but be just friends for now?”

“Is that such a horrible thing? We did already agree not to rush intimacy.”

“Yes, but you also mentioned you were interested in kisses. I’m confused,” Jace said. “I’m not against going slow, I just want to make sure I understand. I don’t want to do or say the wrong thing. I’ve spent my entire life disappointing people with my inability to fall in line with their expectations. I’d like to avoid that in the future.”

“I don’t have a strict timeline in my head of when I think we should move from friends to lovers or whatever. As we get to know one another, I think we will figure it out.”

“I understand,” Jace said. “Perhaps it’s something we can discuss in the future.”

“Communication is definitely key to a good matebond.”

Although Jace understood Kitlivri had experienced tremendous loss, it was deflating to think they were entering another lie. Among harpies, there was no bargaining with Fate when it came to her choices for a person. Fate chose mates and leaders, and she guided the decisions of her chosen. This was honored without question.

Though Jace flaunted his mother’s rules, his parents had a love that was indisputable. His older sister had her other half too and was rarely seen without the woman Fate had picked for her.

The rebellious part of Jace that wanted to forge his own path should’ve applauded Kitlivri’s desire to ensure that what Fate did aligned with his desires for his life. Instead, Jace wondered if the Warrior Chieftain was already displeased by him.

A voice in his head told him he was being unfair and should pay more heed to Kitlivri’s words about his devastated family, so Jace set aside his unkind feelings. Kitlivri was scared, and it was Jace’s role to support him, not question his motives.

“Yes, it is,” Jace said and somehow managed not to cringe since he’d already told lies and half-truths to Kitlivri. Jace wasn’t proud of his dishonesty, his unkind thoughts about Kitlivri’s desire to take their relationship slowly, or himself, in the general sense. It wasn’t until Jace had left his mother’s village that he’d understood how little confidence he truly had, and he was clueless about how to mend himself.

“I’m sorry I’ve upset you.”

“No, you haven’t,” Jace said. “I assure you I’m fine with moving slow. I’m upsetting myself by being foolish, and I understand why caring for someone must terrify you. Thank you for being courageous enough to share that with me. In time, I hope to offer you the same honesty.”

“Love is scary, but I’m already committed to being your best friend.”

The closest thing Jace had to a friend was his father, and Zephyr’s priority was, understandably, his mate.

“I’ve never had a best friend. I’d like to be yours,” said Jace.

“We might even find that we like each other.”

Jace grinned. “You have a growing list of attributes, Kit.”

“As do you.”

“Are you ready to do this matebond thing now?” Jace asked.

“I’m nervous, but yes.”

“Good, I’m glad I’m not the only one.”

Kitlivri held out his hand, and Jace didn’t hesitate to take it. “Did I thank you for agreeing to nearly every D’Vaire tradition?”

“Excuse me? I agreed to them all. You’re the one who was worried some of the feather markings on my skin would disappear if we did those tattoo-like mating marks,” Jace argued.

“I’m a fan of your feathers. Are you okay with sharing a bedroom with me tonight? I’d rather it be no one’s business but our own that we’re postponing intimacy.”

“I think I can handle my desire to ravish you.”

“I’m hoping I have the same ability to resist you,” Kitlivri said. “You are captivating.”

“Not a horrible thing to hear from a handsome man.”

“Am I allowed to call you that too, or will it offend you?” Kitlivri asked.

“As long as you see me as more than the face Fate gave me, you may comment on it as much as you like.”

“Or I could compliment you on other features.”

“I might be harpy enough to enjoy them too.”

“Jace, will you be my mate today?” Kitlivri asked.

“Yes. Yes, I will.”

Jace’s future was a blurry road with no destination in sight, but Fate had given him someone to travel it with, and he would do his best to rise to the challenges ahead.

A sorrowful reaper with a heart encased in ice. A lonely rock star who walked away from everything. What chance do they have at love?

Blurb

Ripped apart by life, Lich Reaper Grymington Daray is drowning in sorrow. Each day, he strives to find the people responsible for killing his best friend, and he wishes his own existence had more meaning. The last thing on Grymington’s mind is finding the other half of his soul. While a loving family surrounds him, the coldness growing in his heart keeps him separated from joy.

Decades ago, Devlin Nero ran away from the world. Being a rock star was everything Devlin wanted, but it turned into a nightmare. Now, the enchanter-human hybrid is living alone and surrounded by nothing but fading memories. Desperate for happiness, Devlin makes his way to the Council of Sorcery and Shifters and winds up at a sanctuary designed for freaks like him.

On a fateful day, Grymington and Devlin discover they are mates. Sparks fly, and the two men venture forth to honor Fate’s choice for them. However, Grymington is too lost and much too fearful to allow Devlin near his tattered soul. Devlin wants love, but the Lich Reaper may not be able to offer it. If their confusing relationship isn’t enough, they have pasts to reconcile, and the future will not wait. It will be up to Grymington and Devlin to discover if they have a matebond worth saving.

Excerpt

Strange feelings fluttered through Grymington that made little sense as he strode toward the great room, but the erection that tented his jeans the moment he put a sneaker into the space took him by surprise.

A rush of pumpkin spice filled his senses, and Grymington nearly smiled; he loved fall. But he was unnerved by the stiff dick in his pants and the knowledge of what a newly found sexuality meant for him. His gaze went unerringly to a stranger staring at Grymington with his mouth slightly ajar. The shocked expression didn’t mar the man’s masculine beauty. Nothing could disguise the sensuality in his pink lips or rob his electric blue eyes of their intensity.

Although there was a messiness to his hair, something in Grymington told him it was purposeful and nothing like the typically tousled mops of sentinels who refused to bother with grooming products or even running a comb through their tresses after training. The black strands hung in thick layers accented by the same blue of his magnificent irises.

Somehow, this man was Grymington’s mate. What the hell could Grymington offer anyone? How could he be responsible for a relationship? Then again, what kind of person would it make Grymington if he walked away from him?

“…and this is Lich Reaper Grymington Daray, though everyone calls him Grymmie,” Dra’Kaedan said. “Grymmie, this is Devlin D’Vaire.”

The rock star who’d mysteriously disappeared was Grymington’s mate, and the reaper could barely get his feet in motion again to move toward him.

The man was about five inches taller than Grymington and wearing faded jeans torn in several spots. Paired with the denim, the newest member of the D’Vaires wore a collarless button down which was half tucked into his pants.

The thin material hung loosely and nearly hid the thick dragonskin belt. His sleeves were rolled up, exposing tattoos over both forearms, but Grymington could not appreciate the art from such a distance. Grymington sidled fractionally closer and wondered what the fuck he was doing.

Devlin chuckled, and the throaty sound punched Grymington in the gut.

“Unreal,” the hybrid breathed out.

He was new to the Council and likely didn’t know that it was traditional to announce to loved ones the moment two mates met, so Grymington lifted his chin. The Lich Reaper wanted to run and had absolutely no clue how to handle this latest development in his life, but he would not be a coward.

“Dra’Kaedan, thanks for introducing me to my mate,” Grymington said.

The Grand Warlock blinked and whooped loudly.

“Fate’s sake, did everyone hear that?” he yelled.

Brogan slapped his hands over his ears. “Sensitive shifter hearing, Baby. I’m standing right fucking next to you, you don’t have to scream.”

Across from Grymington, Devlin licked his top lip in a way that made the reaper’s belly flop, then smirked. “A pleasure to meet you, Grymmie.”

“Yeah, great to meet you too,” Grymington murmured, his rush of bravery long gone.

With the left corner of his mouth still lifted wryly, Devlin bent down onto one knee and carefully lifted his hand toward Hekate, who padded close to sniff him.

“And who is this lovely lady?”

“That’s Hekate,” Daemon Lord Baxter Daray stated as he stalked into the room with his mate, Benton. “Grymmie’s dog.”

“I think he figured out that Hekate is a dog,” Benton muttered.

“You’ll never guess what,” Dra’Kaedan remarked and clenched his fists with excitement.

“Squirt, let Devlin and Grymmie get a chance to tell people things,” High King Aleksander said to the Grand Warlock.

For as long as Grymington had known the pair, they’d teased each other. While Dra’Kaedan had a plethora of nicknames for Aleksander, the warlock was always Squirt to the High King.

“The excitement might kill me, Tallosaur, but okay,” Dra’Kaedan replied and grabbed Grymington. He’d snagged Grymington so swiftly, the reaper nearly fell into the warlock who was holding him so tightly it was hard to suck in a breath. “Congratulations.”

“Why are we congratulating Grymmie?” Lich Sentinel Alaric Daray asked as he walked into the room.

“They haven’t told us yet,” Baxter complained.

Since Devlin was still on the floor with Hekate, who’d allowed the singer to smother her with pets, Grymington supposed it fell to him to make the announcement. Excitement was undoubtedly expected of him, but he couldn’t feel anything other than fear.

“Devlin is my mate,” Grymington stated as Dra’Kaedan released him.

Whether it was the fact that Grymington’s voice lacked any inflection or the surprise of his family gathering in the D’Vaire great room, silence reigned for several tense moments.

Fast cars. Outlaw country boys. Snarky werewolves, vengeful ghosts, and menacing monsters.

Dawson King’s family has been hunting things that go bump in the night in Transylvania County, North Carolina, since before the Revolutionary War.

Dawson was never happier than when he was racing his souped-up Mustang along winding mountain roads and hunting monsters with his best friend, Grady. Then Grady fell in love with him, which should have been perfect since Dawson had already fallen hard for Grady.

But Grady was only seventeen, and Dawson feared that sooner or later, Grady would realize his feelings were just a first crush, and then he’d be gone, leaving Dawson devastated. They both needed space to figure things out. So Dawson joined the army, while Grady stayed on the mountain.

Four years later, Dawson is coming home. He’s more sure than ever Grady is his forever love, and they’ve both agreed to begin this new aspect of their relationship as soon as Dawson gets back.

Then Grady’s father is killed in a werewolf hunt gone wrong. Grady is devastated, and he’s throwing mixed signals about moving forward. Dawson knows he needs to hold off on this new thing between them until Grady has time to grieve. But monsters never sleep, and one hunt after another throws Dawson and Grady into constant danger, while tension and unresolved feelings ripple between them.

Making it even harder, Dawson’s got a secret. He’s dreamed of death omens—which point to something stalking Grady. Can Dawson figure out who’s trying to kill Grady, save his life, and win back his heart?

Plenty of mutual pining, hurt/comfort, spooky chills, sexy thrills, and a very happy ending. The Kings of the Mountain is the first novel in the series.

Perfection comes in many forms, and true courage is beautiful.

Blurb

Preston Hawthorneonca-Stone is a warrior. In a fit of rage, his father changed Preston’s life on a horrible day in 1994. Now a brain injury survivor, Preston lives with his brother and their growing family. A recent addition to the Council of Sorcery and Shifters, Preston has landed his dream job of working with animals.

Resurrected in 1995, Ridgely Walsh is dedicated to his job and the tightknit group of friends he considers family. With his penchant for honesty, Ridgely is the level-headed and sometimes hard-assed member of their little group. Ridgely doesn’t play foolish games, and he accepts people at face value.

Although Ridgely yearns for a mate, nothing prepares him for the moment he meets Preston. The beautiful jaguar-human hybrid with the big brown eyes halts Ridgely in his tracks. Ridgely rapidly discovers his true purpose is to be a good partner to his other half. Preston is equally taken with Ridgely but fears how the fallen knight will handle his imperfections. Together, they must navigate the path Fate chose for them and discover what it means to love unconditionally.

Excerpt

“That’s okay,” Ridgely said. “We’ll work around your schedule. There are seven days in a week. We’ll work our dates into the nights you’re free.”

“Yeah.”

The lack of enthusiasm in Preston’s voice had a chill running through Ridgely. Although they hadn’t known each other long, they talked frequently, and the man enchanted Ridgely. Until that moment, Ridgely had believed they were on the same page, but perhaps he’d misjudged the situation. It was difficult to discuss it without being able to see the emotions cross Preston’s face, and Ridgely wished he were with him. However, there was no way Ridgely could wait until their date the following night to get the answers he needed.

“Tell me what’s on your mind,” Ridgely prompted and internally winced at the sharpness in his voice.

“I have challenges.”

“I know,” Ridgely responded softly. “That’s not a problem for me.”

“Okay. I didn’t want to bombard you with them at the start though.”

“Don’t worry so much. Talk to me.”

“I tire easily sometimes, and I also have insomnia. I’m concerned that if I’m out most nights, I’ll get exhausted because I still have work and do my therapies. I don’t want my schedule to overwhelm me, and it makes me sad because I want to be with you. Maybe I should wait to do the school stuff.”

“Absolutely not, Dimples. There’s no reason we can’t approach things casually. If we hung out and relaxed instead of dressing up for fancy restaurants, would that make things easier for you? Because honestly, that sounds like more fun anyway.”

“Maybe you could come to my house and have dinner with my family.”

“And meet some cuddly kittens?”

“Yes. You could watch a movie with me in my room or take a nap with me if you wanted. You wouldn’t even have to wear your clothes.”

Ridgely’s laughter was full-throated. “I’m going to need you to repeat that when I can see your face.”

“I’m probably blushing, but I’ve already spent plenty of time wondering what you look like naked.”

“I’ve used my imagination a lot lately too. Invite me to your house for dinner.”

“Tomorrow, instead of you picking a restaurant?”

“All I need is an address.”

Snagging a pen from his desk drawer, Ridgely jotted down the information he needed, then promised to call Preston later. After hanging up, nervousness crept in. Although Ridgely loved the idea of a more relaxed avenue to get to know Preston better, meeting a couple of Council leaders was intimidating.

“Okay, so I was curious before, but now I’m dying to meet Preston,” Warner said.

Ridgely nearly jumped at the sound of Warner’s voice. So swept up in talking to Preston, Ridgely had forgotten he wasn’t alone, which was nuts since he’d shared an office with Warner for nearly two decades.

“What?”

“Your voice and body language completely changed when you spoke with your mate. I’ve never seen that side of you. You were practically gushing.”

“Clearly, I was not, but I won’t pretend I don’t like him either.”

“I feel so good about this now. I was nervous you’d over-analyze every aspect of your relationship and drive your man crazy.”

“Glad to hear it because, clearly, your opinion of the situation is what matters most,” Ridgely deadpanned.

“Seriously, I must meet this beautiful dimpled man.”

“Find some patience, Warner. Or better yet, find your other half.”

“I wish,” Warner replied, and Ridgely did too.

Ridgely wanted everyone to have Fate pair them with someone as wonderful as Preston was turning out to be. And the fact that Preston was pursuing a dream pleased Ridgely. It wasn’t enough for Preston to have only pieces of what he wanted; Ridgely intended to ensure that his mate had everything.

Excerpt

As Preston walked to the table, Ridgely rose and immediately understood by the hitch in the hybrid’s gate that his slow speech wasn’t the only unique thing about him. Ridgely’s mind processed that information. In the Council world, they staffed hospitals and clinics with druids capable of mending nearly every malady. What they could not fix was anything in the brain and some issues in the spinal cord.

Ridgely wondered if Preston had been born with some anomaly or if he’d suffered an accident. As a human hybrid, Preston was more delicate than an average shifter, but neither that nor his physical challenges bothered Ridgely. His curiosity was genuine, but Ridgely would allow Preston to reveal his secrets in his own time. When his mate was ready, Ridgely hoped to understand what set him apart, but it was one of the many things intriguing about Preston.

With a smile, Ridgely circled the table and aided Preston into his seat.

“I’m so glad to see you,” Ridgely told Preston.

“I’m sorry I walk slow,” Preston replied, consternation making his brow furrow, and he locked his gaze on the shiny white plates on the table.

His lips pursed, Ridgely strode to his chair and sat. “I can’t imagine why you’re apologizing to me for how you walk. It makes no difference to me how you get to the table, just as long as you’re here.”

Preston’s dimples deepened as he lifted his head and smiled at Ridgely. “Dates are scary.”

“Right? I changed my shirt three times.”

“I picked mine out yesterday. My family helped.”

Their server appeared and took their drink orders. Ridgely went with a beer, while Preston chose a raspberry tea.

“I feel bad that I’m drinking and you’re not,” Ridgely said.

With a twist of his mouth, Preston’s thick lashes concealed his dark eyes. “I have to take some medications, and I’m not supposed to have alcohol with them.”

“I hope you don’t feel like apologizing for that too.”

Preston pulled his lips in, and humor danced in his gaze. “I was considering it.”

“Believe it or not, I figured that out. Your face is pretty expressive.”

“I know. It makes me a terrible liar.”

Ridgely chuckled. “That’s fine with me. I’m not a fan of dishonesty.”

“I don’t like it either.”

“Let’s decide what we’re ordering so we can compare notes and find more things in common.”

“Okay,” Preston said. “Have you eaten here before?”

“Once. I had steak, I think. I remember the food being delicious.”

Their drinks arrived, and they informed the server of their choices of cuisine. The server took the menus and left them alone again.

“I have a hard time remembering things,” Preston informed Ridgely quietly. His lanky frame tensed, and Ridgely’s instinct was to soothe the troubled man. “Jordan used to make me lists for my daily hygiene and other routine tasks. Without them, I’d forget to do the basics like brushing my teeth, taking my medications, putting everything I need for the day in my bag, and feeding my kittens.”

“Sounds to me like you guys approached a problem and found a workable solution.”

“You have a positive attitude. I like that about you.”

“Thank you, Dimples. I like you too. Tell me more about your job. I know you’re a big animal lover. Have you always worked at rescues?”

Preston grinned at the nickname, and Ridgely loved the joy on his beautiful face.

“No, I couldn’t get anyone to hire me when we lived as humans. The Council has programs designed to help people like me, and that’s how I was hired at Felidaes. I worked in a restaurant prior to that. My boss was nice, but it was boring.”

“I’m glad you joined the Council, otherwise it might’ve been a long time before we met.”

“I read that humans killed the leaders of the fallen knights.”

Ridgely nodded. “They did centuries ago. I try not to be biased against anyone, but the humans I’ve interacted while I’m working haven’t treated me or my co-workers kindly.”

“It wasn’t horrible to live as humans, but it was a lie. I didn’t want to make friends because I hated being dishonest about myself. Although Jordan worked hard to ensure I had the care I needed, I had to switch doctors constantly so they wouldn’t discover I was a hybrid. I’m happy I don’t have to deal with that any longer. I have more opportunities, and it’s a relief to be myself. And we had to shift in our apartment, so my beast didn’t like that.”

Their food arrived, and Ridgely eagerly dug into his potatoes. Just as Ridgely remembered, the taste was exquisite, but not nearly as enchanting as the man across from him.

Some things are better left alone

Blurb

Some things are better left alone.

Dane Jones works from home with only his three dogs for company. When he stumbles onto a social media page about urban exploring, he’s curious about different sites around Sacramento that seem like they’d be interesting to investigate. He starts chatting with Griff Warren, and after a few conversations he’s even more excited to go.

Griff Warren is also curious about urban exploring, but he has very little interest in experiencing something paranormal. When the guy he’s been chatting with in the online group is so enthusiastic to go, it’s contagious. They plan to go to a warehouse and while there, experience something they can’t explain.

Dane and Griff were looking for an adventure, but they find more than they bargained for at a deserted farmhouse on the river. When Dane finds an old toy discarded in one of the rooms, both of them are thrown into a world neither understands. Full of cursed objects, strange markings, and powers, neither knows how to handle. Lucky for them, Griff’s Friend knows exactly who can help.

“Blake said everyone is ready to go as soon as you two want to. I think he’s surprised you were still interested after what you saw at the cemetery.” Sid didn’t look up from his phone as he talked.

“Let’s go soon, if I think about it too long, I’ll talk myself out of it.”

I could see Dane wasn’t completely sold on this idea, but I also knew how badly he wanted to know the mark he wore would protect him if he needed it to. And I wanted him safe. I didn’t want him to ever be at the mercy of another being taking control of him. “Let’s go on Thursday, we can take off early and get there before dark.”

“Good idea, it’s a slow week so we can definitely get out of here early. Let’s make sure we have everything we need so we can leave as soon as we’re done. I’d rather not be there after dark.” Sid looked at the two of us before clapping his hands together. “Okay then, if we’re all done here?”

“Yeah, give me just a minute to walk Dane out.” I took his hand and led him to the door. “Thanks so much for the coffee, that was sweet of you.” He gave me an odd look until we walked out the door and I pressed him against the wall. “Sorry, but I didn’t want you to leave without a kiss.”

“This feels like more than a kiss,” he whispered.

“Oh, it’s more than a kiss. If we were alone, it would definitely be more than a kiss.”

He laughed and bowed his head before meeting my eyes again. “Do you think we’re making a mistake going back?”

Reckoning with the past just might destroy Grady and Dawson’s plans for the future

Blurb

Three deadly accidents that might have been magical murder. A dark witch with a grudge against the King family. Federal agents with supernatural abilities. And, as usual, Dawson and Grady are smack dab in the crosshairs of trouble even they can’t outrun.

When Grady King’s brother Knox is targeted by shady characters, old secrets, coverups, and lies come to light. Grady and his boyfriend Dawson begin to question what really happened when Grady’s grandparents and Dawson’s parents died. Then agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Supernatural Investigation show up pursuing a different case, only to discover that the crimes appear to be connected, with a vengeful dark witch at the center of the plot. And since monsters never sleep, Grady and Dawson are still carrying out their duty to hunt dangerous paranormal creatures, restless spirits, nefarious faeries, Civil War ghosts, creepy cryptids, and things that go bump in the night. It’s all part of the centuries-old King family mandate to protect the people of Cunanoon Mountain and Transylvania County, a mission Grady and Dawson are sworn to fulfill.

But when it looks like something is hunting the people Grady loves, it’s time to dig into the family’s painful past, uncovering dangerous details of long-ago hunts against immortal creatures who never forget—or forgive.

Can they solve the mystery and figure out who’s behind the deaths, or will they bear the deadly consequences of their hidden history? Reckoning with the past just might destroy Grady and Dawson’s plans for the future and set loose a tide of malicious magic that could sweep them all away.

Sins of the Fathers is a thrill-packed MM romance adventure full of fast cars, outlaw country boys, snarky werewolves, vengeful ghosts, menacing monsters, and a love that can’t be denied.

Excerpt from Sins of the Fathers

Dawson’s heart went out to Jason, worried about his long-time partner without news of how he was doing and now afraid of being left alone.

“Lily sent us here to talk.” Grady tag teamed. “She knew you’d be upset. She also knew how much you two loved each other.”

Lily Franklin was the long-time Meals on Wheels volunteer who had delivered to Jason and Everett for many years. She’d become a good friend and was Everett’s emergency contact once Jason passed away.

A door slammed. Grady’s head snapped up, and he shot a questioning look at Dawson. Dawson reached out to take his hand, intertwining their fingers and holding their hands in the air.

“We’re like you and Everett. We understand wanting to stay together.” Dawson picked up the conversation.

The planchette trembled before beginning to move. “D-A-N-G-E-R-O-U-S,” Dawson said as the pointer moved.

“Dangerous to admit what you and Jason were to each other?” Grady asked.

The planchette moved to “YES.”

“It can be, but plenty of people are ‘out’ these days. Even married,” Dawson answered.

A framed photo rocked back and forth on the mantle. Dawson saw that it showed two men in their thirties decades ago on a sunny day, grinning with arms slung over each other’s shoulders.

“If Everett can’t come home, do you think you could go to him?” Grady asked.

The planchette went wild, circling “YES” over and over.

“Is there something here that means a lot to you that you could ‘travel’ with if we took it to Everett?” Dawson looked around, wondering what objects among the collections of a shared lifetime might be special enough to anchor a ghost.

A crash sounded from the back of the house. They headed toward the noise and found the door to a bedroom open and a painting on the floor in a broken frame. As soon as Dawson entered, he was shoved by invisible hands sending him stumbling toward one side of an unmade king-size bed.

He nearly fell, and when he braced himself against the edge of the mattress, he saw a leather jewelry tray on the nightstand, and in it, two silver military rings.

“These?” Dawson felt a puff of cold air in response.

“What are they?’ Grady stood in the doorway, respecting the privacy of the old man who had lived there.

“Army service rings. Vietnam, if I’m right.” Dawson picked up the rings and looked at them in the light.

“Lily said they met when Everett was a nurse at the VA hospital, and Jason came home wounded from the war,” Grady replied.

Dawson’s gaze went to a photo of a younger version of the two men standing together in uniform. They were circumspect in their pose, but Dawson imagined that he could see a slight lean, a bit less space between them than usual, and broad grins.

That could have been Grady and me if we’d been born then. I’m glad they found each other and were happy.

It is a MM romance intended for readers 18 years of age and older.

Excerpt from Kings of the Mountain

The longer they spent time on the road and on hunts together, the more Dawson felt a powerful attraction to Grady. He’d always been fond of the younger man, but Dawson found himself admiring the person Grady was growing into. Grady deserved to find the right guy—if that’s what he wanted—who could make him happy. And as much as Dawson wished fervently that could be him, he knew he couldn’t take the chance that Grady might feel pressured or obligated to respond if Dawson made any advances.

Not to mention how Grady’s mother had always carried on about how awful it was to marry a “cousin,” something that she claimed no one in her family had ever done. She’d made her position loud and clear while she was married to Aaron, which had not endeared her to the rest of the community. Such marriages were legal in North Carolina, and not uncommon in the rural areas.

The fact that Grady wasn’t a cousin by blood probably wouldn’t matter to Camille. But what if Grady had accepted his mother’s bias? Maybe Dawson had imagined the flirtation, or worse, projected his own feelings onto the other man. So Dawson took the edge off with hookups and out-of-town one-night stands, very aware that he tended to choose partners with a resemblance to Grady.

Until he couldn’t stand it any longer.

That’s when Dawson enlisted.

Once they were on the main highway, Dawson turned to watch Colt’s profile.

“So…what happened with Uncle Denny and Grady?”

Colt’s grip on the steering wheel tightened, and the tic in his jaw told Dawson that the other man didn’t want to have this conversation. “They’re both alive. But a hunt went wrong a week ago, and Grady isn’t dealing with it very well.”

A week, Dawson thought. That was when he’d stopped getting emails from Grady. He had tried to convince himself the silence was due to any number of impersonal reasons, but Dawson knew in his gut something wasn’t right. His responses from Uncle Denny had gotten short and less frequent around the same time.

Was this what his nightmare had been warning him about?

“Could you be a little clearer?” Dawson knew Colt could read the warning in his tone.

“Grady got hurt. Aaron was killed. Grady’s not dealing well with it. Uncle Denny didn’t want to leave Grady alone. So they sent me.”

Dawson’s head swam. Uncle Aaron, dead? That’s hard to even imagine. He was always so full of life. And Grady—it’s got to be bad if he couldn’t come. Oh, God. I almost lost him. Plus there’s something Colt isn’t saying, something even worse. Because if Uncle Aaron died on a hunt, then Grady had to have been right there when it happened. That’s bad, really bad. No one should see their parent die, especially not like that.

For two shifters hiding among humans, finding love will change everything.

Blurb

Watchman Hunter Stone understands little about his gargoyle heritage. Before his death, Hunter’s father was their leader, but the gargoyles renounced him. The gargoyles’ current location is a mystery to Hunter and his twin, Talon. Although he longs to be reunited with his people, Hunter lives among humans. With his brother’s help, Hunter is raising his sons and growing the business he and Talon built.

Except for a brief and painful period as a teenager, Jordan Hawthorne has always lived in the human world. Jordan is half jaguar, but he is indifferent to Council of Sorcery and Shifters and the Fate-chosen ruler of his people. Recovering from his tumultuous past, Jordan’s focus is on working hard to keep a roof over his head and caring for his beloved brother.

A chance meeting brings Hunter and Jordan together, and the two shifters learn what it means to be mates. Swept easily into love, they must blend their families and decide if staying near humans is a realistic option for their future. In the end, Jordan and Hunter must put their faith in Fate and hope she will not lead them astray.

“Tell me about your day, babe,” Jordan said.

“Work was good. This is better.”

“My steak is fantastic. How’s yours?” Jordan asked.

“Delicious.”

“Thanks for bringing me here. You know I’m not fancy, and I love being at the house with everyone, but it’s nice to have some us time too.”

“I agree. I like our us time. If I’d thought more about matebonds prior to meeting you, I still couldn’t have imagined being like this after a few months of knowing you. Our lives are complicated, but we’re making it work. I guess this Fate deal is pretty special. Humans have traditions too, and since that’s half your genetic makeup, I never lose sight of honoring both sides of you.”

Since he’d gobbled his steak and potatoes, Jordan set his fork down. “What do you mean?”

Hunter set his napkin on the table and stood. After shoving a hand in his pocket, he yanked something out and, to Jordan’s horror and surprise, kneeled next to the hybrid’s chair. There were faint murmurs from other patrons, but he didn’t give a shit about strangers.

“Jordan Hawthorne, I love you. I want to spend my life with you. Will you marry me?” Hunter asked, flipping open a box. It held a matte silver band with six stones that were glittering in the light from the chandeliers.

“Are those diamonds?” Jordan blurted.

“Of course they are. Would you mind answering the question?”

“Are you kidding? Of course I’ll fucking marry you.”

Jordan laughed as Hunter scooped him right off his chair and crushed him against his broad chest. The humans might not have been prepared to watch two gay guys get engaged, but they got an eyeful as Hunter kissed him. There was polite applause from the surrounding diners, but Jordan ignored it and concentrated on the gargoyle holding him close.

“Will you put the ring on?” Hunter asked.

After squeezing Hunter, Jordan sat and wiggled his fingers. “Go ahead, babe.”

Carefully, Hunter tugged the ring from the box and slid it onto Jordan’s hand. “There are six diamonds. One for you, me, Talon, Preston, Colby, and Crispin.”

“You think of everything. Thank you, it’s perfect.”

When Hunter returned to his chair, he smiled. “I’m glad you like it.”

“By the way, I love you too. But don’t force me to do some big, grand fancy wedding. I just want you and our family.”

“I thought we’d have a simple ceremony followed by dinner with our family, then we bite each other.”

“And I’ll finally satisfy your curiosity and have my wicked way with you in bed.”

“Just how soon do you think we can arrange this?”

“You’re the one with the plan. Get it going, Hunter.”

“I don’t want to wait. The sooner the better. Do you have any problems with that?”

“No,” Jordan said, reaching out and smiling as Hunter took his hand. “I love that idea.”

“I waited my whole life for you, Jordan. I’m so glad we found each other.”

“Me too. I don’t want to imagine my life without you.”

“What do you say we order dessert and get home to our family?”

“As long as I don’t have to eat another frozen gummy worm, I’m cool with that idea.”

Excerpt

“Alpha, we came as soon as we got your message. We’re here to accompany to you to the North Territory as soon as you’re ready.” The one that spoke was the head enforcer, a big man with grey hair that somehow made him seem less intimidating—until he turned his eyes on Luca. They were not the warm, friendly eyes of someone’s grandfather, but the cold emotionless glare of a serious enforcer.

“Luca and my mate will also be joining us. I want one of you on each of them,” Zander directed.

The head enforcer bristled but bowed his head in respect. “Of course, Alpha. I suggest we take two vehicles. That way it won’t be quite so obvious that we’re all traveling together. The less conspicuous the better.”

One of the enforcers was familiar to Luca, but he couldn’t place where he knew him from. He was younger than the others, but in height and bulk he was bigger than them. He scanned the room while Zander spoke more in depth to the older enforcer, as Marrok watched on. He had yet to start the transfusion, and Luca wondered if they’d still be doing a treatment. When Luca’s and the enforcer’s eyes locked on each other, the strange feeling Luca had earlier intensified. The enforcer’s eyes widened in shock, but just as suddenly as it had happened, he looked away. Luca narrowed his eyes as he focused on the enforcer. His hair was cut short, and his eyes were both intelligent and vigilant. He seemed to see everything and analyze it as either a threat or a minor annoyance. He was all muscle, and it was no small feat that his shirt didn’t explode from all it contained.

Luca laughed at his thoughts, making everyone look. A blush crept up from his neck to his cheeks. “Sorry, I was just remembering something funny I saw on television,” he mumbled.
